ARRC was started in June 2003 by Dr. Liza Schneider after discussions with DOC to identify areas where voluntary veterinary expertise may be of assistance. Since July 2003, our team (consisting of caregivers led by Chrissy Jefferson in Tauranga, and Nicola Martin in Rotorua) have been assisting DOC, Rotorua and Tauranga SPCA's and the Public with the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife in the Bay of Plenty.

We are passionate about caring for our native wildlife and recognise the great value of education. We know the importance of creating public awareness in order to ensure the long-term health of our wildlife and their natural environments and the trust is currently in the process of implementing an upgraded website to host a kids club. In addition to this, ARRC's Education Team, led by Chrissy, has been visiting schools and other community organisations educating people and children about our natural heritage.
